My stomach is forever grateful for finally trying out this place. Parking is always a challenge in Ellicott City, but this restaurant makes it worth it. The workers are all kind and prompt upon entering and being seated. Our server checked in on my table often. But the sushi!! As a pregnant lady, I love the variety of cooked sushi rolls they had. I have to admit that my husband's salmon rolls looked a tad bit more appetizing but everything was super fresh and delicious. They do have lots of cocktails and mocktails too! Really loved it here and will be returning again.

Tried this restaurant for the first time last night and will be going back to try more. We were greeted and seated right away in the last booth open (busy night) and had a waiter come take our drink orders right as we were getting settled. We got the Tropical Express Safe Flight which had three fruit flavors of sake. It was fun to try but not really my favorite about the night. We then ordered Edamame, Miso soup and two house salads. Although a little small, everything tasted really good. The Miso soup was very flavorful and some of the best I have ever had. Then we moved on to the rolls. We got the Tuna Temptation, Lil Red Riding Hood, and the Rainbow Roll. Everything was very fresh and the fish melted in your mouth. Most notably, the tuna on the Temptation roll was seared and had a magnificent grill smoke to it. My boyfriend couldn't stop raving about that. As we were finishing our meal, the waiter offered us complimentary cheesecake. We of course said yes and appreciated the extra food to try. Overall, I would say that we felt a bit rushed even though we got there before 8pm and the restaurant closed at 9:30, but the food and the ambiance were very inviting. We will absolutely be going back and trying new things on the menu. Maybe get there with more time to sit and relax while trying new items.

Service was great! Went on a Sunday and they were busy, but we had reservations and were seated right away. We ordered the lovers boat plus two specialty rolls and it was more than enough for 4 people. Love the sushi here. The only drawback, it can be a little cramped. When the weather is nicer, they have outdoor seating overlooking the river which is nice.

Everything about UMI Sushi was top tier! From the quality, to the service, to the ambience, this is definitely one of the best places to get sushi in the area. My friend and I both started with martinis, priced at $13 and absolutely delicious. I personally favored the lychee martini but my friend had the matcha one and enjoyed it thoroughly. On to the food, we shared the garlic chili tofu, crab rangoons, and a seaweed salad for appetizers. Everything was delicious - but the best here was definitely the crab rangoons. The taste was great, and it was a good serving for two people. All of the sushi was fresh. The only one we didn't care for too much was the strawberry sake roll - it could've used some sort of crunch to make the texture a little different, and also more chili. But overall, all the rolls were delicious and we were happy with our choices. I would especially recommend the little red riding hood special roll! The service was attentive, they were a bit busy and forgot to bring our miso soup (it was free) but that's ok because we had plenty of food. I will be back!

Found respite here on a gross rainy day and my, my stomach and heart are so happy! The service was great, the food was so fresh and delicious, and the vibes were so relaxing on a day like this. They even offered me a slice of cheesecake on the house but I was so full!!! The lunch special of 3 rolls was so well priced and sooooo filling! Now I know why everyone says it's the best in the area :)

Came here for dinner one night with some coworkers. Overall not a bad experience. If you have anxiety around parking then maybe reconsider bc it is street parking along Main Street and wherever you find it. There are some lots around old EC but depending where it might require a little walk. The menu offers a wide range and your typical sushi menu items. The restaurant is big so it can accommodate larger parties or more of an intimate vibe of just 2-4 that's fine too! The service was good. There was a slight language barrier with the server and us so took some alternative modes of communication to figure it all out but nonetheless he was kind and consistently checked on us! The rolls were good too but definitely can add up in price quickly if you eat a lot of it!

First time visit, if you have never visited Main St.Ellicott City be prepared for where to park before you go. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was filling up but waits did not seem prolonged. Service- they were busy but our server was quick and efficient. She did accommodate separate checks. The indoor seating is rather small so noises do carry but they also have a nice outdoor patio when the weather isn't too hot or to enjoy on a fall day. Food- The menu is quite extensive almost too extensive, it takes quite some time to get through it. That offers many choices or you can customize. Sashimi or sushi style is the most offered with a few different types of fish to choose from. There was not a large availability of different types of fish to choose from but what was probably most popular appeared fresh and tasted good. The slices of sashimi were almost a bit on the hefty side, not as delicately sliced but who can argue when you can have more fish to bite into. Two gluten free souls were able to request custom preparations for their dishes and this was done easily. Tonkatsu- very large cutlet but I was a bit disappointed at the outside crust was not as crispy as I prefer and the pork was a bit chewy. Black Dragon roll- several pieces of grilled eel, avocado and cucumber sushi. This had a flavorful eel sauce with slices of eel laid on top and tossed with sesame seeds. Japanese Fried rice with Shrimp was enjoyed by the owner who ordered this dish. Freebies- Small slices of "cheese cake" was offered complimentary to our group. I would say it was more on the cake side with a layer of cheesecake. It was not overly sweet and hit just the right sweet spot to end our meal. It's a popular place filled with locals along with those visiting this historic area, so they must be doing something right.

Umi Sushi has delicious and incredibly fresh sushi! Each piece is carefully prepared, showcasing the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The meal began with a classic starter, a savory miso soup. The salmon and tuna nigiri sushi had the perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture. The rice was nicely seasoned and had a great consistency, holding together well without being too sticky. I will definitely be coming back to try out more of their sushi rolls and sake, they were so so good! At the end of the meal, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary slice of cheesecake, a sweet and generous gesture that added to the overall dining pleasure! Umi Sushi is a must-visit for anyone craving high-quality, fresh sushi in a welcoming environment. I would highly recommend this spot in Old Ellicott City!
